Felt like doing an illo that was a tad creepy. Created in Photoshop CS5.

Daily Doodle: Mike Jung and daughter

MikeDaughter 5 flat

Morning doodle inspired by a photo that author Mike Jung posted recently. I did the ink sketch using Autodesk's SketchBookPro (desktop version) and the texture colour in Photoshop. Mike's debut novel, GEEKS, GIRLS AND SECRET IDENTITIES comes out this October from Arthur A. Levine Books/Scholastic.

Daily Doodle: Dancing With Grandma

DancingGrandmaKid 002 600

I did this using Corel Painter 12. I gave up on Painter a while back after upgrading to the newest version -- got too frustrated with the crashiness. This morning I decided to give it another go AFTER installing the latest update patch. Didn't crash on me (yay) but I still have to get used to the interface of version 12, which is quite different from 11. I did the colour of the dresses using the Real Watercolor brushes, which weren't nearly as laggy what I remember from the previous version. I changed my mind several times about the background, but ended up using the Digital Watercolor brush.

Then I added the shadow on the wall to make it look as if both figures were flat paper cutouts, just for the fun of it.

The black ink outline was done with a variant of my favourite Drippy Pen brush.

Daily Doodle inspired by The Yo-Yo Prophet by Karen Krossing

YoYoProphet flat600

Just finished reading THE YO-YO PROPHET by Karen Krossing, published by Orca Book Publishers and geared toward ages 12+. Now I have the urge to go out and learn some yo-yo tricks. :-) See my mini book review of The Yo-Yo Prophet in Inkygirl.
