I'M BORED publishing story in comics

Now that I've finished uploading the archives of My Life In A Nutshell (a semi-autobiographical webcomic) to Squarespace, I can finally catch up on more recent life events. If you're interested in following along, please do  bookmark the My Life In A Nutshell page.

An old Christmas greeting

Gah. Busybusy, so have been neglecting my poor Daily Drawing blog. :-( But here's an image I used as our Christmas card years ago:

Happy Holidays wishes - from Debbie

Also, I've finished uploading the archives to some of my webcomics:

My Life In A Nutshell

Waiting For Frodo (my very first webcomic)

and have started updating Waiting For Bilbo (avid fan waiting in line for The Hobbit movies).

My illustration for the 2012 Tomie DePaola Challenge

DebbieRidpathOhi Tomie2012 550

Thanks to the SCBWI & Tomie DePaola for their annual illustration challenge every year; I love inspiration illustration prompts like this -- partly for my own motivation, of course, but also because it's so fun seeing how others interpret the prompt.

This year's theme was an excerpt Chicken Licken story by P.C. Asbjörnsen. If you have your illustration online anywhere, please do post the URL in the comments section! I posted my own illustration above.

Daily Drawing: Bunnything (Imaginary Picture Book series)

OldManBunnyThing flat 500

As you may have noticed, some of the Daily Drawings appear to be a page from a picture book. In response to some of you who have asked: no, these books don't exist yet … I'm just adding the text for fun and without context. For the image above, for example, I just put stylus to Wacom tablet and started drawing the man's nose, without any thought about what I was going to do with the rest of him. Then I added the Bunnything. Then, on whim, I added the text.

I may turn some of these Imaginary Picture Book Series pages into full-blown stories someday. But for now, I'm just having WAY too much fun with coming up with new ones each day. I'm posting some but others are going into my Secret Folder Of Doodled Story Ideas Which Are Best off Never Seeing The Light Of Day. :-)
